 Gudhipadava
, also known as Gudi Padwa, is a major Hindu festival celebrated in the state of Maharashtra and Goa, India, and some other parts of the country. It marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and is celebrated on the first day of the Chaitra month of the Hindu calendar, which usually falls in late March or early April.

On this day, people decorate their homes with rangolis, flowers, and torans, and erect a 'Gudi' which is a bamboo stick with a colorful cloth and a garlanded goblet on top. The Gudi is hoisted on a pole outside the house, symbolizing victory and happiness.

The day is also marked by various cultural and religious activities, including prayers, singing, and dancing. People visit each other's homes, exchange sweets and gifts, and participate in community feasts.

In addition to Maharashtra, Gudhipadava is also celebrated in other parts of India, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Goa, under different names such as Ugadi, Yugadi, and Cheti Chand.
